Last night at dinner, we were discussing the life of Nelson Mandela, the recently deceased former president of South Africa. We were talking about how President Mandela worked many years for justice and peace in his country. You can learn more about Nelson Mandela here.
We then shifted the discussion to this coming week's advent theme of PEACE. We talked about the ways in which Jesus was a peace maker. And we talked about this verse that Paul wrote: "do your best to live at peace with everyone." Romans 12:18
We talked about what it means to live at peace with others...and the things that sometimes make peace hard. We discussed the difference between being a peace maker and being a push-over. Like Jesus did, sometimes being a peace maker means standing up for what is right and true!
So, as we celebrate another week of Advent, let's look for ways to be peace makers like Jesus!
Try this pose to remind yourself about being a peace maker. It's called Big Toe pose.
Take your two peace fingers.
Wrap those fingers around your big toe. Begin to stretch your leg out long. Root into your standing leg to stay balanced!
Or try this variation in seated. It works with one leg or both legs.
Are you a peace making kid? Tell us about it in the comments-we'd love to hear from you!
