At Kids' Holy Yoga, we are all about making the Word of God come alive in meaningful and playful ways. I think about this passage a lot:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress
them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when
you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. (Deuteronomy 6:5-9 NIV)
To me, this addresses how God understands how we have different learning styles. Some people are auditory learners who hear things by hearing, some are visual learners who learn by seeing, some are kinesthetic learners who learn by experiencing. We can help our kids (and ourselves!) embed the truths of scripture in our hearts by interacting with the Word in a variety of fun and creative ways. That's why we love Kids' Holy Yoga so much--it helps us learn to love God with all our hearts, souls, and strengths!
Here is a craft I found for Valentine's Day that might be fun for you and your little yogis & yoginis to practice learning the Word during this month of LOVE. http://thecraftyclassroom.com/blog/2012/02/06/love-bible-verses-for-children/
Maybe you can use a verse a day as your practice Holy Yoga, emphasizing poses that open your heart to God's love, poses like Cross, Bridge, Reverse Table, or Camel!
